Contribution of Sukhdev Thapar, Shivaram Rajguru, and Bhagat Singh
Revolutionary nationalists like Bhagat Singh and his allies desired a revolution of peasants and employees to combat colonial rule and the wealthy exploiting classes.

In 1928 at Ferozeshah Kotla in Delhi, they established the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) with this goal in mind.

According to their pamphlet, the goal was "to make the deaf hear" and remind the foreign government of its callous exploitation, not to kill.

Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar perished on March 23, 1931, while fighting for India's independence; today is commemorated as Martyrs' Day.

The three heroes were executed by the British in 1928 after they accused them of killing British officer John Saunders. They were afterward cremated on the bank of the Sutlej River.

At age 23, Bhagat Singh was put on trial and killed. Throughout the struggle for liberation, the youth were inspired by the revolutionary thoughts and attitudes of these three.

Saunders, a police officer who had directed a lathi charge that killed Lala Lajpat Rai, was assassinated by members of the HSRA. The loss of Lala Lajpat Rai on October 30, 1928, during a non-violent demonstration to against the Simon Commission, had a significant impact on Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru.

On April 8, 1929, Bhagat Singh detonated a bomb inside the Central Legislative Assembly with fellow nationalist B.K. Dutt.
