Info About  Cancer Day


The only campaign through which the entire globe can band together to combat the cancer epidemic is World Cancer Day. It happens every year on February 4th. By promoting cancer awareness, educating the public about the disease, and encouraging governments and individuals around the globe to take action against it, World Cancer Day aims to avoid millions of deaths each year.

In order to ensure that the activity is seen and addressed by more people throughout the world each year, UICC is committed to building on the achievement and effect of the day. UICC accomplishes this by creating a campaign to support the many organizational interests of its members around the world.

What date is World Cancer Day?

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) organizes World Cancer Day to support the objectives of the 2008 World Cancer Declaration.

What is the theme of World Cancer Day?


"Close the care gap" is the theme for 2022–2024, and it aims to close the access gap to cancer care facilities that exist between people of different income earned, age, gender, and ethnicity groups.

The slogan for the 2019–2021 campaign was "I Am and I Will." The subject encourages how our individual efforts can be potent and significant in order to overcome the pessimistic mindset and fatalistic idea that there is nothing that can be done regarding cancer.

Under the slogan "We can. I can.," World Cancer Day launched a three-year campaign in 2016 that examined the ability of both group and individual efforts to lessen the effects of cancer. The themes of the previous campaigns were "Not Beyond Us" (2015) and "Debunk the Myths" (2014).

Why is February 4th celebrated as Cancer Day?


The World Cancer Summit Fight Cancer for the New Millennium, which was hosted in Paris on February 4, 2000, established World Cancer Day.

The then-General Director of UNESCO, Kichir Matsuura, and then-French President Jacques Chirac signed the Agreement of Paris Against Cancer, which was developed to promote research, avoid cancer, and improve patient services. The Charter also included an article designating the annual celebration of the report's official decision to sign as World Cancer Day.

What is the symbol of World Cancer Day?


Different symbols are employed to assist raise awareness of the fight against various forms of cancer.

For instance, the orange ribbon is linked to childhood cancer awareness whereas the pink ribbon is a universal representation of breast cancer awareness.

Another illustration is the daffodil, which is viewed by the American Cancer Society as a representation of the optimism that people share for a time when cancer will no longer be a serious illness.
